APPLICATIONS is where to start
The first step towards adopting a puppy
from Golden Acres is to fill out a
Puppy Application
Of course there is no cost or obligation for an application but it helps us to know about your family
and helps us when we chat about what you are looking for in a puppy.
Once your puppy application is received we will contact you to go over any questions you may have
and instruction about reservations.

After your application is received
we give you a call to welcome you and answer any questions.
We require a Non Refundable deposit of $500 before
you can be added to our Reserved list.
This is applied to your balance as prepaid $500.
The reason for the deposit to be non-refundable
is that people are turned away when puppies are reserved.
Please note that we do not take specific requests for gender before puppies are born.
Our litters are most frequently sold before they are born and there is no way of
knowing what the gender makeup of each litter may be.
We ask that all families be open to gender.
Once the puppies are born we call the reserved list in order of Picking Order and you will be asked your preference for the gender and be placed in that boy/girl list by picking order of your deposit.
If your gender is not available and we have no immediate plans for a new litter then I will return your deposit.
*You can move your deposit to holdout for a specific gender in another litter if you wish, at the time we confirm the birth of the puppies. Your deposit is good for one year from the deposit date. There is no promise to the timeline for the next litter. There is also no way to know if your position in the next litter will guarantee a choice in gender, of if any of that specific gender will be even born.
We do our best to inform you at the time the litter is announced what you can expect for color and size for that parenting. But that is still a guesstimate. About 1 week prior to their birth we have an x-ray done to get a veterinary count on the total number of puppies we are expecting.
~ Final Payment
We require that your puppy be paid for in full when he/she is 6 weeks old if paying with

Pickup date is determined for each litter at time of their birth. They will be around 8 weeks old.

~ Allocation/Placement
** We feel that adding a new family member is a very important and personal decision and we do not choose the puppy for you as many other breeders do. Our families all have something special that they are looking for, some want the smallest, some the largest, some the lightest, some the curliest and often it is just a specific picture that they have seen of the puppies that just “speaks” to them and they have to have that particular pup. During the weeks of growth of the puppies I update their page on this website so you can see their progress, I'm able to assist with my thoughts on the best puppy to fit your family. Everyone is allowed to wait and make their selection at their pickup appointment since this is the first time families get to see the puppies in person due to travel distances. The appointments are always set according to the picking order secured by your deposit date. Please read the next paragraph about picking out your puppy.
So How Does Picking Out Your Puppy Work?
Once the puppies are born and we know what numbers of male and females we ask that each family on the Reserved List with a deposit make their choices of what your gender they want. If there are too few puppies born then the deposit is moved to the next litter or returned if not in the schedule. Then, when the puppies reach the age of 6 weeks, their individual personalities have started to form. If you are not able to be here on the pickup date then you must pay for your puppy in full, and have a list of your choices so we know your selection choices prior to the pickup date. You puppy must be picked up that weekend of pickup date unless you make arrangements with Golden Acres.
Prior to this date we have shared the latest pictures and videos to help in the decision. If you miss being here on pickup date your selection can only be withheld from the litter by me with full payment made at 6 weeks of age and your decision on which are your favorites first, second, third choice etc. before pickup date. Then be available by phone at your pickup time appointment to talk personally and know your pick. If you are not here, or if your final payment is not made by six weeks and/or your choice is not made clear on pickup date, we skip your pick and go to the next family on the list.

On the designated pickup date we start with the First Pick position on our RESERVED list. After discussing any concerns and answering questions on each puppy they are interested in, they get first choice of puppies that have not yet been allocated to the breeder. After they choose, we then meet with the second family on the list by appointments one hour apart and continue until all the puppies are headed home with their forever families. If you have not made it here for pickup date then arrangements must be made ahead of time. There is a daily boarding charge for puppies left in the care of the breeder after 8 weeks of age.
~ On Puppy Pick Up Day
We have appointments established by picking order starting early that morning every hour, on the hour, for your selection order.
This is the day everyone has been waiting for..... their puppy gets to go home with you!!
We live about 15 minutes north of I-90 in Spokane and about 30 minutes from the airport. Many families will make a day trip to the area, some spending the night before and taking the puppy straight home with them from their appointment time, or fly in and use an airline approved carrier with their puppy under their airline seat on the take home date.
Raising puppies here in the manner we do, is an all consuming process 24 hours a day~7 days a week. This gets even more intense as they get older because I am very insistent that I keep them in an atmosphere that is as clean as possible and give them a lot of attention. I don’t leave their area when they are awake, constantly cleaning up after them, and giving them lot's of social interaction. I love what I do, but because it does take so much time as a family, we are not able to hold your puppy after the release date. We ask that our families respect that fact and plan to pick up their puppy on pickup day.
We will always do our best to provide you with these pickup dates as far in advance as possible.
Please be smart, don’t plan a vacation the week that you think the puppies will go home or within the first 2-3 months while they are adapting to their new life with you. Their first 2-4 months at home with you are extremely important in developing them into the family companion best fit for you.
Your puppy really needs this time to bond with you and learn the basics of where they sleep, eat, play, go potty, and their name along with a few obedience commands.

Puppy deposits may be returned anytime at the sole discretion of the breeder. Applicants/depositors and breeder all agree that any return of deposit means that any and all verbal or implied agreements to sell a puppy to that depositor/applicant are now terminated. Golden Acres reserves the right to alter the guidelines set forth at anytime the needs arise.
